nano ceramiclear repaint

I just accidentally backed my 3 weeks old 2006 CLK into a pole. My rear bumper and left quarter rear panel above the rear wheel is scratched and need repaint.

I am so upset since my car is very new and I want to make sure it is repainted with nano-tech as orignial.

I am planning to take it back to the offical mercedes bodyshop in Hong Kong. I asked them about the nano-tech and they seems to have no clue what I am talking about. They just ensured me they will use the paint as in the production factory and have the nano-effect if that's what come with my car originally.

Do you guys think whether the mercedes bodyshop will use the nano Ceramiclear Clearcoat to my car ?

Sorry to hear that you dinged your new car.
If it is the official Mercedes body shop they should use the correct paint.
Nice to see some more people opting for Orion Blue, we love our 05 CLK 500 Cab.
Is your CLK Orion Blue as well as your C230?

I sold my Orion Blue C230 earlier this year when I was still in Vancouver. I love that color.

I just bought the CLK280 in Hong Kong and it is Cadet/Iolith Blue. This color is more subtle compared to the Orion Blue. But it is also a great color.

I just hope the official MB bodyshop will repaint it with the nano-paint so that it is also as scratch and marring resistant. There is no swirl or anything so far in the rest of the car. I think it is because of the nano-paint.

That's why I need to resure that the MB bodyshop will apply the nano-paint. But it is hard to explain to them to ensure that will be applied.

I would suggest that you check with your selling dealer.
I am sure that the bodyshop would not be approved by MB unless it can provide the latest paint technology.

Mercedes
The body shop that I took my brand new ML to was Mercedes certified and was the body shop that got car sent to from the dealer because the dealer doesn't have it's own body shop and they don't have the nano paint. They just don't have it available for them, and even if they did they would need new spray guns and other equipment. So that shop probably doesn't have it. Make sure with your dealer.

The Nano technologoy is very simple and every workshop could do it. The only difference between metalic and nano metalic is that nano has one additionaly layer of clear cota coverd.

I hear many different concepts.

I have read in some other places that it requires like 300c to bake the nano paint in factory and it is not possible to repair the car in nano as it is not repaint in the germany factory.

Some other said that PPG has developed a version of the nano-paint that is used for repair/repaint purpose that bodyshops can use to nano-painted car.

Which of these views are true ?

I guess my best bet is to take it to the official mercedes bodyshop. I hope they do have the necessary paint tech for nano-repaint. So far, my car has zero swirl, I think it is due to the nano-paint. I really hope I can maintain this.
