CLK500
Ipod

Is there anyway to attach an Ipod into a 03 CLK500? I once saw it on a message board, it was something about running wires into the nav and etc.

do you already have a nav? if so you have an aux input standard with the car just go to radio shack buy a mini to mini cord for 5 bucks and plug it into the input and the other side into your ipod

then hit "SVC" then system settings then aux and there ya go

i have a question about this...if you plug the mini to mini cord to the ipod, would the names read out in the center of the gauge, like if was installed from a dealership? I wanted to do this for my car, but the friggin' dealership is asking $600! rip-off if you ask me..

no it will not read anything except aux in the cluster.... and you have to manually change the songs as well... i just lay mine down by the shifter...

btw to get optimal sound (i like alot of bass) every time you turn the car on and activate the aux the sound prefrences get reset so you have to put up the bass and treble every time you start your car

Where exactly is the auxilary input? I just looked through the COMAND operator's manual and it doesn't say where it is. It says that it's in the glove box? The manual also has a seperate sidenote that says "Refer to the seperate operating instructions for information how on how to operate the auxilary audio source (e.g. CD changer)." Does this mean the input is already taken by my 6 disc CD changer? Can any of you post a pic? Thanks.

I have NO navi. How can I connect? I have a 2005 CLK500, I think I have a connection in the glove also. Might not be in the same place.
Thanks

Read the thread below. It has the information to setup the aux input for cars without navigation. It's really for W203. I'm not certain if it would apply for W209 as well. Maybe somebody here can tell us.

Sounds about right... They wanted to charge me $180 to remove a spider in my headlight. :v

If you have the D2B based COMAND the base, treble, balance, & fader reset every singe time you start the car for AUX. The 2003 & 2004 CLK still had the D2B comand 2005 has the new COMAND and does not have this problem.

Since your CLK is a 2003 (2004 will work also) you may want to consider an Ice Link, I recently had this installed last week in my 2003 CLK and while it's not perfect I much prefer it to the AUX cable or FM tuner method. Here is my post from the audio board if you guys want to read up: https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-electronics/130958-ice-link-2003-clk-w209-w-comand.html

BTW the Ice Link will work with D2B based audio systems so it's only for a 2004 or older CLK. Check it out at the Dension website: http://www.dension.com/icelink.htm
