Defective Lamp

Defective Lamp
All,
I'm a newbie here so if this is already listed please excuse my post. Everytime I start up my car I get in the information console (by spedometer) that a Lamp is defective. But if I go outside and check all my headlights and brake lights everything is working fine. Has this happened to anyone before? Is there really something wrong? Is there a way to dismiss the malfunction so it stops happening if it really is nothing major to worry about?

That's the thing, how do I know which light is defective if non of them show any signs of going out? I just don't want to have a couple ****tails in me and one of my lights go out. That would really blow. Is there anyway to check the lights to see which one might be defective besides the regular eye test?
