I have a 2004 CLK500 and it appears my bumper might be ever so slightly off...I am talking about where the plastic bumper meets the metal just below the headlight...that long slightly diagonal crack so to speak is larger on one side then the other.

Has anyone else noticed a slight difference in the widths between the metal and plastic bumper on either side of the car?

If you are talking about front side bumper cap right above the side maker then you might want to check your Bumper Retainer. It's a little plastic piece that holds fender and front bumper.

 

If you hit the front air dam on a parking lot kerb or something similar (not too hard) then that will throw it off. Happened to me...
