New BMW 3 coupe aims to compete with CLK.
The new 3 coupe will have 306 horse with 400hp going into the M3. Additionally the convertible will ditch the ragtop.

The new BMW 335 with 306 hp should pale compared to the new CLK550 with 382 hp and almost 400 lb ft of trq. but give the CLK350 a whoopin. The new M3 is going to be just north of 400 hp closer to 425. It is nice to see escallating power from most manufactures.

I like the idea of the hard top convertible and the twin turbo. Plus, they mentioned a double clutch transmission. Combined with a sport package, that's gotta be a really nice car.
I think that BMW models shouldn't be compared to Mercedes models. I think they are all in between and can't be directly compared. I think the CLK is better than the 3 series coupe. The 6 series coupe is better than the CLK. The CL is better than the 6 series coupe. So, I don't think there are any BMW coupes that are equal to Mercedes and visa-versa. Its either better or worse.

as a 3 series and clk owner, i am not biased but i really like the new bmw... the way they drive are just great but at the moment i am very happy with my clk which i will still have until my lease expires in jan 2008 until then who knows what can happen!
