Talking I'm getting excited!

Its so great to hear that people are starting to get their new CLKs! I've still got a few more weeks until mine comes in, but the fact that they're actually arriving in dealerships this week.. it felt like the day would never come.

So please - anybody who picks up their new CLK, please post pictures (if possible) and give us as much feedback as possible!

Enjoy your cars!

I was pretty excited too:-}. Made some fast observations in '1st impressions'; but thought you'd like a couple more tidbits. The AC vents were vastly improved in terms of adjustablity over 430CLK, and little things, like 'express' windows in both directions were notable. Did take the car to 80+ on a quick trip to Miami, and it was quiet (no air noise despite no 'B' pillar) and very stable. No body shake whatsoever over railroad tracks, contrary to one magazine comment (they must have had a pre-production).

What else that I didn't mention.. gaskets around the sunroof are improved (the old ones came loose sometimes) and set-up for the interior lighting appears better (again, didn't take the car home yet, because they have to tint the windows etc., so one more day to wait, but the quick trip was worthwhile). Radio didn't seem as deep as the 430's, but didn't really check it out much. It felt more solid overall, and the gear selector (with the touch shift) seemed an improvement (I had wondered about that).

Overall, just about what it should be; not just 'image', but solid performance and (conservative?) sporty styling. Even salesguys got enthused at the dealership (the first one); which reports (not sure if it's true) a two-year wait for people walking in wanting one now.. interesting; can't help but wonder if this is the right 'price point' for MB, and this, not the SL, will be the highlight of the season (given the Sax campaign and Architectural Digest adds, etc). (They had offered me a launch SL, that I turned down and ironically find this car both more practical and enticing.. but that's just me. Looking forward to getting it for keeps later on tomorrow, and am sure you'll enjoy yours when it arrives.

cheers!
