CLK vs. CL

hi there... I was just checking some CL pictures and couldn't stop wondering whats the difference between two coupe models except their design... I mean all merc models have a unique difference, but I just can't see any difference between those models except their visual appearences which is not that different either... any ideas??

They are kind of similiar in appearance. The CL is bigger than the CLK (though I think legroom is even). The CL also has Airmatic suspension and is generally more high tech than the CLK. It is also more classy and more of a cruiser. Mercedes doesn't make a convertible CL so if you want a drop top, you gotta stick with CLK. Otherwise, engine and tranny are equal. The CL is just the next step up from the CLK in luxury, class, price, technology, and looks.

On correction though, the CL has ABC not Airmatic, but yeah the CL is a steup up on nearly all respects and better looking too despite its age.

Think of the CL as a 2-door SL or a S/SL mixture and the CLK as a E (in looks) and C-Class (chassis) mixture.

I always thought that ABC was a form of Airmatic...oh well, whatever it is, the suspension is better. When I drive the SL55, it has a very nice feel to it. Its nice and stiff, but it also takes bumps and holes in the road very well for that type of car. I also like how you can raise and lower it.

K is german for short? Something like that...

Take the SL and SLK for example. Similar, but SL is "more"...

06 CLK 500 / 07 Honda Ridgeline
CL = E class chassis coupe w/S class interior (MORE AMG options in motors)

CLK = C class chassis coupe w/E class interior

Real differance imho is $$$ per the amount of rear leg room you need and maybe "status". The CL is probably the worst bag for the buck in the MB line next to the SL500.

Mercedes-Benz
CL is a bulkier more solid car. Has the hydraulic ABC suspension system. Special door hinges allow the door to slide forward over the fender while opening to allow the driver more room to get out with a smaller swing. Has a bunch of little features that are very nice.
