Messed up the steering

On Thursday night I was doing donuts in my CLK and a couple of minutes after that the power steering went completely dead on me. It was a challenge to drive it to the dealer to get it fixed. Now, its Monday and the dealer said they put a brand new Rack and Pinion in my car and the steering is still very heavy and its making a funny noise. Anybody know what it is? And why can't you do donuts in a Benz?

no idea, but your lucky they didnt charge you for it!

the funny noise could be the wheels rubbing maybe? or something with the control arms?

Agreed,

The heavy steering sensation and noise is almost certainly due to a malfunctioning power steering pump. Back to the dealer I'm afraid.

BTW, it probably has nothing to do with your donuts...

It has EVERYTHING to do with your donuts! I did the exact same thing, and had exact same problem. Your steering pump went out. I had it fixed by the dealer... they almost knew exactly what was wrong. I wonder if this is an issue with W209. Anyhow, it is your steering pump and it can and should be fixed by your dealer. Needless to say... if you want donuts, stick to the bakery and not your rear tires.

Spoke with the dealer...they already replaced the power steering pump and rack and pinion and its still messed up. They believe the ESP unit may have been installed wrong when a couple of months ago I had problems with ESP and ABS. Lets see what happens.

I did it on his old SL55 and destroyed the pump as well. The Lambo is a different story, total respect
