Hi There,
I was just wondering if you know what is the EXACT!! 20" wheel/tyre combo + offset, is suitable to put on a 2005 CLK 320?
I almost purchased a set of 19" coz every one says it will ride poor with 20`s, and wont fit under the guards and rub.
What is your opinion of using 20" rims with a slight lowering 1 1/2"
Do you need to go for pure coilovers with a 20" fitment to maintain original ride quality.
I would LOVE 20"`s but an scared of a poor ride + ripping off my guards on a quick U turn in traffic!!
Cheers if you can throw some light on my questions?
P.s What is a fairly low noise/comfortable/long wearing tyre for the 20" fitment?

Hi Ya,
Melb? Im in Adelaide!
Would you mind me asking what the exact wheel/tyre/offset your CLK had in 20"
I am concerned about the ride quality compared to a set of 19`s?
What springs/brand did you use? How low?
Can you also suggest a good quality / low road noise / long lasting tyre for a set of 20"`s
Many thanks!

Hi Hamish,
thought i would jump in as i'm from Melbourne also!
I have a CLK500 riding on 19*8.5 (f) and 19*9.5 (r) lowered on eibach pro kit. I don't have any pictures of this setup as the springs have been recently fitted.
to be honest the biggest killer of the ride quality was the rims, not the springs. But to me it rides just fine on the 19s with the lowered suspension.
I personalyl think the 19s with lowered suspension make the rims look huge and i thihnk 20s is an overkill and will really hurt the ride. i think my setup is the ultimate compromise between looks and ride quality, but that's just my opinion based on driving on australian roads.
I got my rims and tyres from Jax Quickfit (which are a pretty big chain but not sure if they are in adelaide) they are CLS knock-off's with AMG stamped on the spoke of the rim. I think they look great. The 4 rims with sumitomo Z3 tyres were $2400 (i think) which was a great deal for 19s but i got that just before christmas.
My favourite tyre of all time is the toyo proxes T1R which in my opinion is the BEST tyre for the PRICE. I personalyl think its comparible to what michelin or bridgestone offer, but for only 1/3 of the price. But Jax don't stock toyo's and i found it difficult to get nice but cheap AMG copy rims in Australia without going for eBay stuff, so i settled for the sumitomo's which were cheaper yet still surprisinly excellent (especially in the wet!).
Anyway, maybe we should start a thread in the aussie section or something about good places for parts here in the land of the convicts..
cheers,
Warren

Cheers man.
Haha, na, no tint.
But I'm definately gonna be doing work to it.
The suspension needs stiffening (it isn't anywhere near as stiff as my 208 was) and I'll be looking to sort out a body kit.
Remaps & exhaust upgrades too. but that'll be alittle bit down the line.
I've also seen some carbon fibre bit's and pieces that are catching my eye. heehee

Thanks for your kind words.
I'm guessing that MB thought that the convertible CLK would sell better in the US climate.
That totally sucks that you guys aren't able to buy the Coupe.
Funnily enough, MB are making a special 100th birthday CL which will have one-off options and colour schemes.
Sounds lovely, but as I understand it, it will not be sold in the UK?![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Thanks again, mate.
