I notice a real trend with many Asian cars badged as AMG, even with the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder cars (gas is frightfully expensive outside America). It seems the norm in many countries in Asia. If I did that in America, my car wouldn't be able to travel two blocks without someone pointing and laughing hilariously.

Hi all,
I was playing with gimp trying to imagine which color would fit best to a w209 and the matching alloy colors (e.g. wrapped in clear chrome, gold, black chrome, red chrome, blue chrome, green chrome, matte black, glossy metallic black paint, anthracite paint, etc) if I wanted to change it a bit.. The result is absolutely not intended to be pro, but just to give an idea on how it would be before spending the money..
If that gives you some inspiration, then good.

On the other hand, I love the fire ornate of a bmw m3 or the green of a lambo

I was thinking about either wrapping or repainting. Currently it's navy blue paint, which is not that bad, but I was thinking of getting something a bit more "luxurious".

I don't understand the need for a badge. Any of these cars are plenty fast. People may turn their noses up at 218 hp... so I get that... but even those are a riot to drive. No need for 500 hp to have fun.
However, times have changed and many of these cars are dressed up to look like CLK55s, so I don't know about who did what, and who placed what badge where. The common complaint is that the AMG badge is not stuck on correctly. Anybody astute can study that and stick on some $10 eBay badge correctly.
That black car above from Japan is a CLK320. The silver car above that from Thailand is a CLK200K. Some US CLK55s have CLK63 front bumpers and are debadged. Some CLK500 owners take painstaking measures to look exactly like CLK55s. And then there are the Black Series look-alikes and the widebodies. Among enthusiast cars, I can no longer tell which is which unless I hear the engine.
There is a joke in the AMG thread about AMG-police. I say that it's a good idea.

I know what you are talking about. The NYC MB dealerships are notorious for that. All of them. I've seen lots and lots of CLS, SL and SLK cars with AMG badges. The higher priced the car, the more likely it is to have an AMG badge. I even saw a ultra high priced CL600 with the V12 engine with an AMG badge. Why would an owner of a car so expensive need an AMG badge to "feel better?" A CL600 can be speced to be more expensive than two base E63s.

I personally like de badging, looks so much cleaner.
And when I refer to my car I tell people is a clk 550 with the amg package. I really wanted a clk55 to say I own an amg.
After I graduate the clk63 bs is number 1 on my list of cars to buy
