Car feels jerky, Transmission Problems?

Hey guys,

recently my car's been acting rather strange. when im driving in sport mode, not shifting gears leaving it drive, the car seems to randomly pull forward and jerk.

its been doing this more than once and its starting to bug me and was wondering what could be the source of the problem.

in all honesty, i have shifted with the car before, which should be ok to do conisering the option is there. but now it just makes these random jumps while the RPM stays close to what it is under normal conditions.

just wanted to see if these are the early symptoms of a bad transmission or some repairs down the road.

thanks in advance.

oh, and just if anyone knows, where can I get some "Brabus" center caps? Been trying to find some and ebay has em for 60 bucks?. TIA

Yes there is a transmission problem...

I had the same prob and took it into the dealership while under warrenty. There is a known problem with the transmission, the oil leaks into the transmission which causes the problem.

Apparently, they said they replaced the transmission for me, however about after 6 months...I am getting a warning stating low on oil!!! So does that mean my car is still leaking oil into the transmission? Not sure...but I hope this car lasts long enough to the next clk generation. This time, i'll wait for the 2nd batch of cars.

My '04 CLK320 has the exact same problem right now, its at the dealers and it should be back tomorrow, I'll report how that turns out and ask my dad what they said they did to fix it.

Remonster-

Thanks, let me know what the diagnosis was. BTW, how many miles are on your car?
Mine's at close to 22k, was thinking that it may be similar in terms of effects with mileage.

1-2 shifts had a "hesitation jerking" movement @ about 15 mph

2-1 downshifts had a "jerking" / "clunk" movement @ about 10-15ish mph

The reason is does it in sport mode is "C" mode starts you in 2nd gear.

As stated above it's a problem with oil leaking into the transmission. It is a known problem with the 7-Speeds and is common in the ML as well.

MB changed my transmission in 2 days (was @ 1500 miles). 1 day to diagnose and less than a day to replace the transmission. My dealers service was EXCELLENT. I have not had the problem since (9500 miles)

If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer based on my experience with this issue
