Being new can anyone tell me the schedule for oil changes? I thought the schedule when using full synthetic the change would be every 10k to 12k miles. Since I just bought the car I went ahead and had it changed. The shop said the next change was in 3k miles? I would think an engine that holds 9 quarts of full synthetic would go longer between changes.

not having the comlete detail of what you did...but i'm assuming you changed the oil yourself when you bought it...now if that is the case, the mb shop is going by what the computer is stating from the stats of the car. When you change the oil yoursel, you don't update the system so the computer has no record of the oil change and is going by the last time the cpu was updated with that info.
