it has to be the delivery date. Not to you, but the date it was received at the dealer which is the ( In-service ) date.
For example, my car has a service date of Feb 2006 I picked it up in July with 21 miles on it. I'm sure it had to be manufactured a few months earlier so it can't be the production date. That's my guess. IF you have the OWS of your car, that date is stamped on there..But all dealers have this imformation in their computers and they can tell you by looking up your VIN.

it can't be the date that the dealer received it, because what if the car sat on the lot for over a year? Does that mean that you get a car with only 3 years of warranty left? That's a lawsuit waiting to happen

the new car warranty always starts on the day you roll that car off the lot as long as the car has not been registered.... for example when i bought my 2005 Tahoe last year it had 580 miles on it so my paperwork says my warranty expires at 36580 miles on it.....

With MB it is the inservice date. I went through quite a bit of this...

This is one of the reasons I opted for an 06 instead of getting an early 2007.it has the same warranty time frame, and I can drive the crap out of my car till the end of the year and it will still have low miles for an 06 come Jan.
If I had purchased an 07, Jan rolls around and I am in a high mile risk already with only 7 or 8K miles on it..... I just wasn't comfortable with that idea. You never know when the next nicer car will come along....LoL
