I just changed my order to Pewter - need help with wheels

I originally ordered my car (silver, charcoal, K3, K4, Comand, 819 CD changer) back in late May or early June, and I later found out that my car was still not scheduled to be in production until Sept 20 (Ie. tomorrow) for delivery sometime in November, despite the fact that I thought that I was second or third on the waiting list.

But between the luxury tax change on Jan 1, the fact that the Comand system is not DVD based (like I originally thought or at least hoped), and that the pewter really is a sweet looking color (silver isn't doing it for me), I have decided to change my order and just sent a formal request to the dealer. My car is now slated to be in production in November with a January delivery.

I will be saving about $3k in total and am planning on spending it on wheels. This will be the first time I have bought aftermarket wheels, and I'm really not enough of a car enthusiast to know the subtle performance, wear and tear, etc. issues related to the choice of wheels/tires.

The two wheels that I like the most (based on what I've seen at laeast) are the Brabus monoblock IV and the Carlsson 1/5 Diamond, and I would like to get either 18" or 19". (I know that those Carlssons only come 18")

So what are the practical implications of the wheel size? How much of a practical difference does the width of the wheel/tire have?

addition to your wheel/rim question:

What is the offset for the w209 CLK??? isn't 35mm???
Let's say the CLK offset is 35mm - Can I put a 37mm offset rim to it? or vice versa???

Thank You in advance

I am 42 years old and owned 17 cars since age 16. Do not waist your money on wheels, you will get zero if not a deduct at resale on a Mercedes of this price. The AMG standard wheels look great on my CLK 500. The more you can drive down the cost of ownership the sooner you get the new-new thing.

Agree with Michael.
(1) Rims add no value when resale.
(2) AMG rims look not bad.
If you really wanna rims different than others.
send me a PM.
