Sirius Install on 04 CLK 320

Hi all. I have been looking thru the threads and haven't found exactly what I was hoping to find. But if this has Already been addressed I apologize.

I JUST bought my first MB. It was built in 03 but it is an 04 CLK 320 Convertible. So I believe it is pre-installed with Sirius but not totally sure. And I think it is D2B also, but not sure if that matter for the sirius install.

I have a unit but REALLY wanna use the COMAND center so it still looks pretty :-) (I'm a girl and thats how I like it ).

The dealer told me $1600 to install it and my sales person kept trying to talk me out of it. And I definately DO NOT want them to mount the antenna on the truck (plus I guess I have a special color of black and would have to pay extra for the antenna to match).

I want to do it myself but not sure if it will be a HORRIBLE ordeal or not.
Can anyone offer their experiences? I am hoping between myself and my fiance we might be able to do it for less.

THANKS!!!!

I'm not sure how experienced you are with wiring, but it's not something that should be done by a novice. MB electronic systems are really touchy and picky. I wrong move and it's wiring hell. $1600 sounds about right for a command unit and install. If you are seriously considering DIY, you should PM sunman or MBenzNL about this.... they're the resident experts.

Ah.. I was hoping the fact my COMAND unit had a SAT button and the notation of "PRE WIRED" would make it an easy plug and go. So $1600 for just the Sirius setup seems ok?? well... I guess I should start saving my pennies.. :-) Thanks for the advice and I will see if I can find more on MBenzNL site also.

Sirius

I have gotten a complete command and a separate Sirius install package and everything was easy and well done. The fact you have a sat button on the command is the same as mine and it means your car is already wired for sirius...
