New Member & possible new CLK owner...

Hey guys. This is my first post here. I'm the very proud owner of a 2006 Audi A4 and my lease is just about up. The reason i'm here is that i've been looking at a few clk's and e500's as a replacement.

now, i know just how helpful forums can be (member of Audiworld for over 5 years) and thats why im here.

I've checked out several clk500's 2003 & 2004 MY's. My question is, since I've heard that maintenance can be a b!tch, what are some typical problems with these cars? Keep in mind, the one's i've seen hava bout 40k miles on the clock. Is there anything specifically I should be aware of for these years?

Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to say welcome and if your looking for a used 2003-2004 I say spend the couple grand more and get an AMG...(Something I shouldve done but don't regret)...have fun on the forum there are plenty of guys who are more than happy to help you out. As far as problems I think the biggest concern is the tranny for those years you inquired about. Goodluck with your search.

Thanks...

My plan is to save some bucks this time around otherwise I would spring for the AMG. Gonna have a look at 2 more clk500s this weekend and read up some more on those model years...

The difference in price isnt that much I dont think (someone correct me if im wrong). The AMG value is depreciating just as others are. There is a CLK55 in the Classifieds section, hes selling it for I believe somewhere around $32,000.

Steve,
Welcome, I too am new here, and just got out of a 2004 Audi A4 usp 3.0. I replaced it with a 2007 clk550. (talk about culture shock! The Audi couldn't hold a candle to the v-8 MB) We got a great deal on the clk, employee purchase MVP program through my wife's sister (an MBUSA employee).
Good luck with the search, and think v-8...AMG... You will not be disappointed.
One more thing, this (and other MB) forums are a lot slower than at Audiworld, etc. so expect to wait for others to open up!

Cool. How long should you be MBUSA employee to get advantage of the MVP program ? Just thinking to get such job for a couple months to save couple thousands.
