Will 20's fit???

I have a 2006 clk 350... Wanna do 20's all around... Anyone know what the correct tire size/ fitment will be so that they fit without rubbing... Its a lease so I dont want to do any cutting/rolling of fenders or lowering it.

Thanks!

Its all depends on the offset and the tire size, but i suggest you go for 19 max.

I know all BMW/Mercedes enthusiasts hate having those wack *** dubs on a car. but nowadays 22+ on benz/bmws are normal... I love big rims, thats just my style ...anyone know what offsets would be the best?

Well, going to larger wheels without suspension work will make your car ride a bit higher than stock. Although the gap between the wheel wells and the wheel shrinks, it also lifts up another inch or two off the ground. Even though the tires are thinner over all if you compare the two, the larger rims will have a larger overall diameter.

20 is rediculously large... but there are a few members that have 20's on.

I'm sure if you searched for '20" rims' you will fine multiple postings where the guys who have done it reveal what kind of body work was required or issues they ran into. I believe 20" up fron was not recommended.

=(

I think there's no problem.

I also love 20's.. and there are several users in this board that ride on dubs...

I would tell you to do a search.. there are a lot of information around...

hugs!

I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than a second set of wheels for car show days, but if you are prepared to drive on 25 and 30 series tires and drive slowly to avoid potholes/bumps in the road to avoid cracking/denting the wheels, there's nothing really preventing you from doing it. You need to make sure that the wheels and tires are both spec'd perfectly because there's not much margin for clearance problems and you might need to roll the fenders and modify the fender lining - at a minimum you should work with an experienced wheel vendor that has all the dimensional specs and very familiar with mercedes. I would recommend buying them through a local shop so that you can get a test fit on your car before commiting to the purchase. Which wheels are you looking at?

I found this guy on ebay:

http://www.eurotechwheels.com/catalo...D=1&itemID=290

These are 20" wheels and the site says this guarantee "Offset: Many Available for Any Mercedes-Benz
Hubcentric Fitment Guaranteed"

Ask them to see if they will fit on a CLK, and ask what tires go with them.

Also saw on tirerack.com, and they had up to 19", with tire sizes picked out for you.

Let us know what you get when you decide.

John

i also have a clk 350 06' and i actually got the eibach pro-kit lowering springs... i have 19' brabus v1 two piece rims and no problems at all... i think if you wanna go 20's the only thing you will have to worry about is getting low profile tires... its perfectly fine for me rihgt now with 19s... good luck

It will work. It will look good also. But be prepared to put on some VERY thin tires. I’ve seen it done by some guy that works at the dealership here in Miami. I was actually impressed, It look nice. Not sure who the guy is though. I think the car was maroon.

Im in the process of getting some black multi spoke 20's with chrome lip staggered fit and 3.5 inch lip in back. The guy said low profile tires will work and I can drive it around the parking lot first to see if it rubs, if they rub bad then he will take them off and put 19's.. He says no rubbing though...

I don't recall the offset on my 19s, but they are 8.5" in front with 235/35/19 and 9.5" in back with 265/30/19. Post some pics when you get them.

Hell yeah!

yeah man ,im sittin real pretty on some 20's right now with no problem. what size tires you might ask rubberband thin but i dont care, it rides real good i thought it would ride rough n stuff but its actually smooth. I was skeptical on getting 20's on my ride because of all the horror stories but im a rebel and i had to do it. I had alot of these tire places outside the neighborhood were scared to deal with putting such big rims on my ride but i eventualy found somebody willing to smack em on. so yup so far so good no modificatons just put them on and roll like granny with six grandchildren lol . i do find myself starring at the road for the slightest bump it kinda hurts if you hit em but i dont care if i damage them i'll just have to replace them now would i ,cuz it looks damn good and to each his own> justchillin!

What about just rear fitment? Will 20" work in the back, running 19" in front? This is what I had on my corvette and it looked great.

Please do not put 20 in rear and 19 front. Corvettes are entirely different and built for that set up....Not Mercedes.

Yeah, the clk is gonna look like is lowered in the back but like a suv in the front..
Or else you have to lower the springs on the front, but then i dont know if this setup will make the car stable...

Well the corvette had the same sized tires with that setup (ie: the front tire had more sidewall to equal the diameter).
