Results of dyno mode

I'm very lucky to be alive. I was running against a Mustang GT last night up to about 115mph. After the race he told me that sparks were flying off my rear wheels. I noticed the car wasn't feeling right, now I know why...

Thank God he told me about it or I would have continued to race my way to the grave lol.

It was hard for me to get a pair of tires for the size rims I had so I was running General UHP. Never heard of them before but they were decent tires.

Now I'm getting Dunlop 9000s to replace those. I wanted to get Mich PS2s or something but none of the local shops could get them for me. I should be getting the tires switched today, waiting for the shop to call me and let me know the tires came in.

Is that the tires worn down to the steel belts?

Should've gotten Goodyear Eagle F-1 GS-D3's. They're incredible in the wet and dry.

+1 I'm running those and they're great traction. I'm guessing as the title of the thread says, you were running under dyno mode? How does it feel? Does it launch harder?

Talk about driving the wheels off of the car... Glad to hear nothing happenned.

Yup, all steel. According the the Stang driver I smoked, sparks were flying everywhere, it must've looked cool lol.

Dyno mode is definitely something you gotta try. I would keep it on all the time except there is no ABS so I'm leary of using it when running high speeds.
If you hit the throttle too hard or powerbrake, the car can do a standstill burnout and you'll smoke the tires (hopefully you guys believe me on this one lol). You can also come out of turns extremely fast and powerslide. Fun but you have to be careful.

And thanks everyone. Just make sure you guys check your tires every once in a while, especially if you're going to race or run at high speeds or carve up corners. I never would have guessed my tires would have gotten that shredded after just 8 months of "spirited" driving.

Its possible in a 350. Keep in mind my rear wheels are 9.5" wide which is wider than stock so it should be providing me better grip. If I had the stock 8.5" or whatever I could probably burnout better.

If you really want to smoke your tires do a donut. Put the car in 1st gear, hold in the brake and the gas and when you release the brake and start to feel the tires slipping you can cut the wheel and you should be able to do continuous donuts.

Now here is a warning about donuts. Don't cut the wheel too hard when doing this or your power steering will die. This has happened on my CLK500 and I've also heard this reported on an SL65. When I used to do donuts in my dad's SL55 afterwards the power steering would feel funny.
