Which would you get - 335i coupe manual or CLK550?
Hello all,
I've been thinking about this for awhile. If given a choice, would you rather get the 335i Coupe with a 6 speed manual tranny or a CLK550. They both are relatively fast. There is a $10K - $15K difference between the two but with MB's low money factor on a lease, the monthly payments aren't that much different. The key factor is the 6 speed MT on the 3-series.
I'm interested in hearing your opinions.

2006 Edition CLK 280 Coupe
At this stage, considering that the CLK is now aging and due to be redesigned due to the release of the new C class, I'd go for the BMW.
Father in law has the Coupe and its an awesome car. Downside is extras from BMW are costly, so you might as well have a kidney removed if you want something fancy

the CLK550 is a great car........i mean the power is just crazy. You're right though 10-15 thousand is alot of money so ask yourself if its worth it? I personally think the 335i is a great car, and would be very happy driving that.

As much as I hate to say it, CLK is getting dated. The 550 is a badass car, but CLKs are so played out now.
The 335 has it all, plus its manual. If its power your missing, for about $1500 you can just get an ECU tune and remove the secondary cats and resonator and you'll have 400hp and tq.

I chose between both and went with a clk550 cab. I was originally leanings towards the 335 Cab manual but after a second test drive in the BMW I knew I prefered a 8 cylder engine although I really wanted a manual. Also, the MB is larger interior and feels more luxurious - the lower MF really helped seal the deal on the MB for me and I am thrilled I went with the 550. BUT, only with a 24 month lease, knowing that we will see a new body pretty soon.

Congrats.
How much is the lease and how much did you put down?
Take care.

Nice choice
I just leased a CLK 550 and absolutely love it. Torque is ridiculous and the seats are the best I've ever sat in. I timed my 0-60 on average at 4.7-4.8. Better or the same as a clk55 amg priced last year at over 80k. Body may be dated but this car is the bargain of the year. Good choice. Plus BMW interiors aren't as plush. Later.

I was going to but the 335ci, but had to wait for color my wife wanted...so I spent some time over on the bimmer sites and it seems like the oil cooler was an issue, then the fuel pump...then I got to thinking about reliability...ended up with the CLK350 cab (not even the 550...remember for the wife). She loves it. Nice finish, nice looks...

CLK550. With 382Hp and a 0-60 time of 5.1(!) seconds, that car is faster than a stock 996 Carrera [0-60 of 5.2] right of of the box.
The BMW is a dime a dozen here in SoCal.

i would say depends on your age, if you were 25+ id say go with the clk, looks more classy, under 25 id say 335i, sick car, looks sporty matches the younger teenager crowd better, either way both cars are sick as hell

I was also comparing between the two and I chose to lease CLK550 because of the large discount off MSRP and the low money factor.
I really like 335i but i was turned off by the lack of room for negotiation and also I knew I would regret not waiting for the new M3.
I've already put more than 10K miles after only 6 months and I like the car even more now. It seems to get faster also and I've never felt the need for more power.
And I personally think CLK550 looks more luxurious and expensive than 335i even though CLK design is much older.
