i have the clk500 and with the radio turned down, when accelerating from a stop, i hear a knocking sound. it sounds similar to that of a diesel engine. but when i get up to about 30mph, it goes away. any suggestions?????

 

Hate to say this, buy my wife's 2001 C240 makes the same sound.

 

Dealer says that is normal...something to do with the fuel injectors.

 

front or rear ,,left or right,,any other info ,,i will try to find out for you

 

If it is a TICKING sound, there are a LOT of complaints re the new E500 as well.

There is even a service bulletin re engine mounts...

Wait...

My wife's 2001 C240 has two sounds...


1) Clicking (Almost a valve chatter when idle)


2) Ticking (Dealer fixed this twice, it was a purge valve I believe)

it sounds as if its coming from the engine. i only hear it when mildly accelerating from a stop. cars too new to jump on it.
