getting wheels chrome plated
i have the factory alloy wheels on 04 CLK 320, and was thinking to have them chromed, question:
a) the wheels that i get chromed, will they have same quality as buying chrome wheels in the market?
b) any economical place to have this done?
c) my existing are 16", and I like quite ride, will putting 17" make road noise more visible?

Just my .02 cents...I wouldn't do it. I'd give you 9 months to a year before they start going bad and even sooner depending on where you live. This is just from my experience in Florida.
If you want, you could get a mirror polish look w/ clear coat. With regular cleaning and a good wax top coat, it should last a lot longer than a chrome finish. If your chrome finish messes up, you have to send them back and you'll be riding around on a spare for a couple of weeks.
Just too much trouble...

yeah so true.... chrome will get effed up if you don't do it at a real high quality place... and even at that who knows if it will stay nice hahaha... but yeah overall i think the smartest thing would just be getting a new set.... maybe invest in some monets?... real cheap

'clear coat', whats that? you mean, some polish exists that i can apply on my factory wheels? (that'll give the stainless/mirror like shine)

so the new chrome wheels that one buys in market, they are not chrome plated? I had thought, all wheels are made of alloy (or some xx metal) and then get chrome plated (for that mirror like shine) and easy cleaning.

Thanks for that. Provide a solution into which the chrome can easily dissolve and then reverse the normal direction of current flow typical of the corrosion of the aluminum. Knew it had to be possible, but I wouldn't want to have to mess with the paperwork for the EPA certs. Any time you start putting chromium in solution, the government is going to be looking over your shoulder very closely. Dafont Showbox Adam4adam
