Comparing Navigation

i have the older style navi in my clk, and i must say.. i don't like it very much.
to the point where i don't even bother using it even when i'm lost.

the routes it comes up with are.. not the best (to say the least).

however this may be due to the fact my navigation cd is out of date,
i'm thinking either 03 or 04, unsure.
are the newer discs compatible with the older navigation system?
and punching in any destination is slow.. the whole knob thing is eh.

also if you have the older navi, how do you mute the navi lady?
i press mute, but it only mutes her for the sentence, not the destination.

i haven't used the newer navigation system, but i've seen it.
it looks far better.. i'm thinking about doing a swap.
correct me if i'm wrong but i think the dash
is a little different in the CLK350 compared to the 320?
how much am i looking at if i were to swap?

any input is welcome

Sorry to say, the CD-based Nav in the 2003 and 2004 CLK's cannot be upgraded to the newer DVD-based Nav's in the 2005+ models. The car's wiring system is totally different and completely incompatible.

You should be able to get upgraded CD's for your Nav though.

Your only other option is aftermarket Nav systems.

to be honest from what i have heard, unless u buy a brand new merc system(which is not compatible) you are better with a aftermarket system.
