Mods for CLK 500

Please take the time to do a before mod dyno test , this will help you set a bench mark .Contact Blackbezz on this forum , he will most likey know of a reputable Dyno Facility in the Maryland area. Power mods do not come easy with the 500 M-113 N/A motor. Most claims are over stated on the BIG hp increase they provide. There statment usually are Crank Hp. Your will only be able to get Rear wheel hp. The number I'm stating are RWHP. Underdrive pullies help in the middle of the rpm band 7-8 hp , 3 hp at peak Hp. Evosports or VRP are a good source for N/A pulleys. Green filters & K&N filters also help alittle. Some/most , post on this forum showed about 2 hp. A before & after Dyno is a Must for ECU tuning, Hp inceases vary from the cars OEM ECU File . What I'm saying Here is , THAT! not one file fits all W-209 CLK-500s. So on & soforth ,ECU tunes will dramaticly improve throttle response , Trans shift points. The butt dyno will like it. The dyno pull will disappoint you. Then again We don't race Dyno's on the Street & track. For Exhaust I've already made My Statment. If you are looking to hear more of the GT sound , That is your Choise. VRP & Kleemann will be very helpful . ___PTEngineering

+1. I agree with Joey.
I have done the upgrades you listed (not a brabus exhaust - different custom exhaust) and I saw approx. 25hp. I wish it was more.....
K&N Filters - 4-5hp.
ECU Tune - 20hp.
Exhaust - 12hp.
This doesn't = 25hp, but I am conservative with the estimate.

PTE is definitely (but unfortunately) dead on about everything he said.
The only reason I haven't DYNO'ed my 500 is because I know the hp numbers will disappoint me for all the time, $$ and effort I have put into it.
It is hard as hell to squeeze hp from our 500's. That is why AMG is the next logical step if you have the financial means.....

im satisfied with the hp for the 500, i was in the process of doing all this to my w208, so figured id do it to the w209 as well...anybody have any common issues with their cars, like the w208 a common issue was the maf causing vibrations at idle, is that for the 209 as well

Thank you, i have seen some ecu tunes that really didnt add any power that had to be resent back to be programed again. air filter dont really do too much till you put on a free flowing exhaust then you will see a nice gain. as far as the pully goes your ecu needs to learn that its there. it could take a week to notice the power. the truth teller will be the dyno thats the best way to find out what kind of power ull be putting out

After doing ECU, filters, and various exhausts, I would say I got maybe 325 crank hp. I did dyno it but only after the mods so it really doesn't help. I got 225rwhp on a dyno dynamics. It wasn't in dyno mode. I don't think modding the CLK500 is worth it. You will see minimal gains and lots of $$$ being thrown out the window. I hate to say that too since I'm one of the biggest hp junkies around here. Put rims on, an exhaust for that lovely V8 sound, tints, lower it, and call it a day

Omar, If you're ever up in NJ, you can take my car for a test drive and see what you think..... I will just hold the keys to your 500 until you return.
