I really like it

That's exactly what I want to do next to mine. Are those original AMG tips? Where did you get them from?

Also, do you have a pic from under the chassis of how you routed the pipes?

Thanks

Yes, those are real AMG tips. Believe it or not but my quad tips exhaust mods ONLY cost me $375 !!! I got the real AMG tips from a CLK 55 for $75. The labors is only $250 and I tipped the guy $50. They did everything right and my car was not their first. They did over 20 CLK with quad exhaust mods in the past. For $1200, they can do the mustang style quad exhaust system with great sound.

Where did you get the original tips from? MB will not sell the tip separately over here in the UK. If you have a contact, maybe I can mail order them

Do you have a pic of the underchassis? I would like to see how the pipes were routed.

I got my tips from the forum classified. There's one CLK 55 and and CLS 55 quad muffler in the classified for sale for around $700. I took a couple pictures under the car but it didn't turn out clear at all because I painted muffler, pipes and heatshield black so you can't see it from behind. The only thing I didn't paint was the chrome tips. It look so much better from behind. This is how they did it, I asked them to cut off the inside tip and attached it to the outside tip from the factory muffler then they weld the pipe to the muffler (the side that the tip got cut off) and route to the pipe to the other side of the bumper. They also added two muffler hanger, cut the bumper and welded the other two tips.

wow that was way cheaper than wot i paid for. Did they replace all the piping or did they weld the muffler to the original piping? did you feel any torque loss? can you get a pic from underneath the car. by the way the car looks great

Ok, piggy back quad exhaust style. As you can see, the trick to the piggy back mods, is to paint the under car black. It impossible to see it a piggy back quad style from behind. Even if you look under the car, it still hard to see.

Sweet ride!!!

I'm currently having the same exact set up done, but with AMG tips. I had to leave my car at the shop. Also getting some other things done. I'll be without my baby for 2 weeks they say. I can't wait to get her back. I'll post some pics too when I do.

Do both sides work? Someone told me that if you piggy back you lose power/torque. They said that the right way to do it is from a muffler with dual outs. Anyway that's how I'm getting mine done, a muffler with dual outs....no piggy back, but the setup is going to look exactly like yours, nice and sweet!!

How's my piggy back lose power/torque when I'm only adding an aditional pipe AFTER the factory muffler (see pic of post #10, double click for bigger pic)? Doing it like "BelaMeca" sound great and look good in the pictures (mine real AMG tip look better in person) BUT you might lose hp/torque because of the the un-tune universal muffler to the 500 engine.

Have you noticed a gain? Maybe I'll just do it your way....It'll save me some money. I'm just going off of what the guy at the perfomance muffler place told me. He told me that the way he's going to do mine (single muffler in the middle with dual outs)..I will feel in the top end.

1) I wouldn't trust that guy if I was you. Use your common sense in this case.

2) People will tell you what you want to hear when it come to taking your money. Btw, Mercedes rated the hp/tq on the 2003 CLK 55 with true factory quad exhaust system (2003 CLK 55 is the only year model that came with factory quad exhaust system) the same as the 2004-2006 Clk 55 with just dual exhaust system. So you're going to believe this guy going to give you more hp without losing torque just by sticking a universal muffler on a Mercedes V8? Just make sure it in writting !!

3) How will it gain power just by adding two extra tips?

trust me, if u dod the single muffler with 2 outlets you will lose out on a lil low end torque, not hp though. thats why you have to get a ecu tune as well.

If you're one of those perfection. You can get the factory black rear bumper cover from the 2003 CLK 55 with factory quad system. It retail around $175 !! Not worth is for me !!

only clk63 black series cars have the quad system. no matter what bumper you have, it will have to be cut (if you get the amg bumpers, one side is made for "dual", and you'll have to cut another "dual" on the other side)
