Aftermarket Navigation 2005 CLk 320

Hi everybody, im sory if this question has been asked already but i havnt had a good grasp of solutions for it.

Anyways i drive a 2005 CLK 320 with the regular CD player Unit. I want to install an aftermarket in dash navigation. The one i was looking at getting was the Pioneer AVIC-Z3. Now what i want to know is if this is compatible with my car. Will i stil be able to use the volume, phone and other controlls with my stearing wheel. And also how difficult will it be to install successfully. Thanks in advanced for the help, i really appreciate it.

I havent install the aftermarket one yet...but you have to have somekind of adapter to work with you volume and other controls with your steering wheel.
Alot of member here have done that in their C and CLK class you just have to search my friend....I have to do that too eventhou Ive been here for awhile..

Here, i wont try to be a smartass ill answer as best as i can. You can install z3 without a problem, just get the mercedes audio wiring harness and match the colors. For the steering wheel controls, there might be some adapters available i dont know for sure. Its easy and simple to install aftermarket radios. Dont worry about fiberoptic stuff, none of that is needed.

I wouldn't dick around with the stock head unit unless you are willing to lose the steering controls, iPOD integration or you are willing to spend a lot of money trying to integrate the steering controls into an aftermarket head unit.

I was on this path as well but decided to not take it becuase I felt like it just wasn't worth having GPS nav for all the trouble/money. Instead I installed a portable Garmin unit and hardwired it into my CLK. You can take a look at my install at http://www.narbware.com/clkgps/

^ obviously you don't know much about car audio

5120 on ebay: 600-700
ipod cable: 29
bluetooth kit: 149
steering wheel adapter: 49
dash kit and antenna: 50

professional install done in about 2 hours: 150-200 (optional)

quite a lot cheaper for a ton more features and way better navigation. you couldn't even do OEM bluetooth for that much money. plus you have garmin navigation, which is way better than OEM, and you dont have a portable unit mounted on a very expensive car.

DVD in motion, 6.1" touch screen, ipod in glovebox that you can control on screen, speak to talk bluetooth and steering wheel controls for way less than OEM. sounds good to me.
