CLK 500. Aircooled?

I have an 03 CLK500.
I've noticed that when I'm in heavy traffic, the temp gauge goes up to 90ish.
Then when I'm running at highway speeds with temps outside being in the range of what it is here 10~40f, I notice the temp guage showing 80 or below.
Is the engine aircooled in any way?

the last air cooled car was the 993(1998) porsche 911 you are deffinetly watercooled. check your coolen level and listen for your fan to turn on if doesnt go to a mechanic preferably one that has experiance with german cars

That's very normal. If it bother you, you can ask the dealer to turn on the fan 10 degree cooler. Btw, our car is watercooled.
