Smile 04' CLK 500 Rim & Tire Suggestions

What up everyone. New to the site as I just picked up an 04' CLK 500 the other day. The first thing I want to do are new rims and tires. Its sitting on stock 17's right now. Can anyone give me some information as to the biggest size I could go with out having to bother with spacers and all that. Could I fit 19's w/o rubbing? Also looking for any suggestions that might look good. I'd love to find some flat black 19's of some sort.

Any good suggestions on tires as well? Size? Brand? Any and all recomendations would be great!

Any rim / tire info for my new 04' CLK 500 would be great. Dont know much and I'm just trying to get some good reliable information.

Thanks a bunch

Yes, 19" is perfect for W209. You should get 19x8.5F and 19x9.5/10R.

You have two options for tire sizes: 225/35/19 and 255/30/19 or 235/35/19 and 265/30/19. Spacers needed or not is depending on the wheel offset and spoke design. Hope this helps!

Thumbs up

Awsome. Thank you for the info. Ive been doing some research on how big of an offset will bolt right on without having any problems clearing the calipers or messing with the fenders. Most of the stuff I've read says that 20mm both front and rear would be fine. And it looks pretty good too. Any insight on what I should go w/ offset wise?

tires and wheels size

I have a 2004 clk 500 and just ordered 19x 8.5 F and 19 x9.5 R. I was planning on running 245 35 19 (F) and 265 30 19 (R). Does anyone see any problem that will occur with those sizes?

THX

Rears are okay but fronts are a little too tall and may cause rubbing.

You should stick with 225/35 or 235/35 series.

Hey Slicky Slick...Ive seen 245/35 without any probs but Imma prob get you the 235/35/19 for the fronts just to be safe.

Feel free to check out my thread on the 19" rims I just got. My CLK was lowered with Brabus springs and the 19"s fit perfect. I had the fenders professionally rolled, and it helps.

OK. We could always upgrade down road if there is room to fit 245/35

CLK 500
Hi guys!
I have the same kinda question - '04 CLK 500 on stock 17' rims.
Like you said - 19' will be fine, but how will it affect driving/handling/fuel economy etc.?

I was thinking about 18 - but now 19 is kinda preferable!

Greetings, and welcome...

There is a whole thread dedicated to this topic.

Driving/handling - much better response, but with a little rougher ride do to sidewall heights and stiffness. More noticeable in the 19".

Gas Mileage - Negligible. Unless the wheels and tire are a lot heavier when compared to OEM. I notice no difference between my 17" winters and 19" summer setups.

Happy hunting...

I have 2004 clk500. It has 225/40/r18 rear tires and 225/45/r18 front the tires are new but they have rim leaks. I want to replace them but the front and rear have different offsets. what rim size should I use in the front and rear including the offsets.

the offsets are going to vary on which rim you choose. What wheel size do you want? 18,'s 19's its your car your choice
