steering wheel and easy entry problem

This morning my steering wheel didn't feel like moving
(it's stuck in the bottom position) and does not
go up to exit the car

The steering wheel moves forward and back but not up and down...
dammit

I hear the motor trying to adjust but no movement

Soo I turned off the easy entry option soo the motor don't burn out

What up with it????

make sure the wiring harness located under the seat is securely connected. If not, you will experience problems with the steering wheel and seat adjustments.

I'll check the harness... but I don't think thats it, cause
every thing else works fine.

I have disable the easy entry fonction to not burn the motor of the
steering wheel adjustment.

When the motor is running, does it sound like it's straining? Maybe something jammed in there?

Or, if it sounds like it's free-wheeling, maybe the motor became disconnected somehow?

Do your easy entry features also move the seat? I have seen on several cars that do, on my car (2007 clk550) it only moves the steering wheel.

I have the same issue. I checked the cables under my seat and all fastners are secure.

My problem is that I cant turn the cluster option on. Its stuck in the off position. The +/- steering wheel buttons do not toggle from off to on.

I cant change the Easy Entry feature to ON My steering wheel only goes in and out. The only way to move the seat is with the door panel controls

Update: FIXED!

$11 part and $450 in labor. Thank goodness for the warranty. My coupler in the steering column motor area snapped.

I just had this problem myself. I was able to replace the coupling if anyone needs help getting to it I could write how. You have to remove the bottom part of the dash to get to it and it take awhile to do but its not to bad.

I had this problem for a while (last March) and have been trying to find a way to get to it. Please post some info for removing it.

Can you try to figure out why the seat doesn't move with the steering wheel when exiting anymore

The computer times out and shuts off the easy entry function when a position is not achievable within a certain amount of time. This is why the easy entry function stops.

We must be talking about two different things. I think this thread is about repairing the column tilt. You are asking about the seat?

health services, to get to it I completely droped the steering wheel all the way then got to the part from the top.

look at this https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...e-up-down.html

There are 4 bolts, two on each side of the steering wheel attached to a metal plate that you get to from the bottom. Then there is a large bolt that you remove from the side of the steering column. Once you do that the steering wheel should fall down. and you will have access to the part.

WOW I saw the other thread on the W203... looks difficult

on your W209, it's only 4 bolts (blue cercle) and 1 long bolt ( green cercle) ?
