Front grill

I'm trying to see if I can retrofit the front CLK grill into a C class sedan, but I need some help.

I need to know the size of the CLK grill. If any one of you guys can be so kind as to measure your car's grill It'd be greatly appreciated.

I know it won't be the same dimensions. But if the size is relatively close perhaps it'd be possible to shave the sides to make it fit.

Thanks.

Mh-dezent.de makes a CL grill and I suspect it's just a CLK grill shaved plus a bottom piece added.

No, it's from the CL grill, you can find the pic thread, page 2 in C32AMG forum, few owners there do the same retrofit.
I did it long before the debut of W209 & the one w/plastic cover is also buyable (prepared for Distronic on CL)

You're also right, it's shaved exactly from W215.

Thanks for the info.

When you did it for your C32, what did you have to modify?

Also, what do you mean by the pastic cover?

Cuz it's shaved manually, need fine tune the screw lock
position to well fit it.
After installation, the engine hood clip is squeezed, a little harder
to open the engine hood than before.

Tri-star mark w/plastic refer to Distronic, one costy option of MB
higher class lineup.
Few ppl want impress others that their W203 w/distronic
So they retrofit their W203 w/CL grill + plastic cover .............lol

Thanks for the info about the Distronic. I know exactly what you're talking about now.

Now, the part I've highlighted in red, I don't see that on the CL grill. Is that a custom addon piece? Thanks.

Smile

Part of the CL-look grill, you need pre-paint it to meet your color.

Ok I'm getting confused here. Does that bottom plastic piece (highlighted by red earlier) come with the stock CL grille, or only comes if I buy the custom CL-look grille? I know MHDezent sells them, but they're too expensive so I'm looking to see if I can custom make one of my own using the stock CL grille.

If I'll have to buy the custom CL grill piece, how much do they sell that for in Taiwan?

MHDezent quotes : 421 + ship 80, all in Euro.
I don't know where the single piece to buy.

So the CL-style grill isn't something I can make on my own by buying the W215 stock and shaving the sides? I'd have to make the bottom piece too?

Oggle,

The Expression CL grill comes with the fiberglass piece. The stock CL grill does not. And based on our experience with MH-Dezent, nothing comes from them...

Expression actually made many of the body kits for MH-Dezent, why not get it directly from an Expression dealer?

Are you saying MHD doesn't make the grill?

What is Expression's website or contact info?

I'm saying from our experience that MH-Dezent takes wire payments and then does not ship the product. To make matters worse, they then become impossible to contact...

That wouldn't be completely bad if they would at least ship the product. I would not take this risk, when another company, who used to make some of their parts, makes the same thing.

We carry the Expression products for your Mercedes. Feel free to email me if you would like pricing.
