w209 wiper problem...

Jusy tried the wipers on my car for the first time and the drivers side is missing a spot of windshield in the lower and center portion. I swapped the blades from side to side but it still misses that area, the wipers are quiet. MB tech 208 wrote something about bending the passenger arm to correct a noisy condition but said nothing about missing certain spots. Any one with the wiper delema please chime in.

Thanks

RJC

When I first got my 2003 clk 320 had the same problem went to dealer and they put new blades on and it fixed the problem. This is the only problem that I have had with the car and have had the car about three months.

It was missing on the passenger side on the right.

Finally got my wipers sorted out. The car is now pretty close to perfect and the wipers are silent and effective.

In the UK, I've had a pretty torid time getting the replacement to happen. You call the dealers and they say that they have heard nothing about the problem. You call Mercedes and they say that they have heard nothing of the problem (despite the fact that they have read everything on this site). Mercedes will advise you to visit a dealer and get the dealer to report the probelm to Mercedes who will investigate a warrenty claim.

What ends up happening is that, when pressed, the dealer just replaces the blades, fixes the problem and Mercedes never got to hear about it, and the circle is complete.

All I can say is that anyone having problems in the UK shoudl just pitch up at their dealer, take a book and not leave until new wipers have been put in place (I took the laptop and used one of their desks for a couple of hours).

Anyway - all's well that ends well, but frankly Mercedes I could have lived without the stress.

Michael.

My wipers are missing spots on the driver's side as well as the passenger side. The dealer replaced the wipers but the problem is still there. The service tech said he would try to find another solution. Any suggestions?

Starr,

They may have to adjust the wiper arms, if you search the tech section and or the new e class section you'll find the TSB#.

I have the wiper problem too...mine originally missed a noticeable spot on the driver side towards the center of the winshield. Took it in on Monday and they adjusted the arms which reduced the size of the missed spot, but still didn't totally fix the problem. They said they had to order a new part...a control arm or something...I forgot the exact name. So now I am waiting for that part to get here.

Thanks again RJC. My service tech ordered new arms. I have an appointment for next Wednesday.

It seems as though the spot missing on the driver's side has gone away, I wonder if the passenger side would disappear with time/wear.

I am having the same problems, first rain last weekend and as expected there is a spot missing on the driver's center area. Very annoying. It looked like they bent the wiper blade to make it fit. Anyways, I will call in to make a service appointment.

If it's just one side make sure to tell them not to touch the other as I went in with a drivers side problem and they fixed that and replaced the passenger side too (even though I said drivers side missing a spot) and now that side is noisy requiring another trip to the dealer.
