1998 E300 Turbodiesel-drove for ten years/165k miles
I just did it in mine, which I just picked up new/used yesterday. New to me/used car.
The procedure is in the owner's manual. Essentially, you have to go through the menus using the steering wheel controls until you come to settings. Using another pair of steering wheel buttons you'll scroll down until you get to "set time." Once you've got that set you have to press the reset button (which turns to set the dash illumination, and pushes in to reset). Once you've done that, it's fairly entertaining to watch the analog clock spin until it gets to your new setting.
