Steering wheel tuner buttons instead of presets?

Using the up/down arrows on the steering wheel I used to be able to flip through my preset radio stations. I must've reset something because it no longer does that. Instead, the arrows just tune up and down through all the different frequencies.

Any ideas how to get the old functionality back?

Just go through the dash settings. You can scroll through and change it back to the presets.

I've tried that but whatever the setting is must be very un-intuitive. I've looked many times.

Darn I was really hoping for the key here in the forums - but I'll let you know in another posting I found out they did actually change it. What a bizarre thing for them to do. They actually wrote the following stupidity in the MOST service manual:
Service Tip
• Previous MB owners may complain that their new vehicle equipped
with MOST does not allow them to change the setting between
Station Search or Memory presets in the Instrument Cluster settings.
• Although some MOST equipped vehicles can be version coded with
SDS / DAS to display the option in the Instrument Cluster, changing
the setting will have no effect on the function.

so what's the answer here. I have no owners manual and have the same problem. I must say the responses so far haven't been helpful.

That's just how it works.

The answer appears to be - "That's just how it works"

I am absolutely stunned that someone at MB made this executive decision to:
#1 Make it work this way at all (useless)
#2 Change it from a clearly better way (that all other cars use)
#3 Make it impossible to choose the old, better way (crazy!)

But everything I read seems to point at that. I might still take it to the dealer and see if there is something they can do - maybe there is a newer software update. I'm pretty sure my car was just fully dealer serviced only a few months ago though, so I doubt it.

Sucks! I hope at least I can get the AUX jack installed to my center console for my iPhone and figure out if my CD changer plays MP3's (I have all WMA discs so I haven't tried yet - not eager to convert 6000 songs to MP3)
