You should be able to get a direct replacement (but stronger now) from your M-B dealership for around 200 AUD.

It is easy to fit yourself, when you get the trunk liner out.

For a DIY with photos visit this other forum: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w209...ement-diy.html

Correction! I re-checked my invoice and I paid £70 GBP at the M-B parts desk. That would be about 150 AUD (Australian dollars), or $114 USD. Close enough.

I had mine replaced under warranty a couple months ago. I thought there was some sort of recall on it since so many CLK's had the same problem?

I think that MBUSA was more generous in the US for owners outside the normal warranty period there. I tried to get free light replacement here in the UK on my 4 y/o CLK, and it was no-go at the dealership.

I actually had the extended warranty. PH1L let me see if I can source one through my service advisor. Maybe it will be cheaper, if not then at lease I tried.

I had the same problem about a month ago and ended up buying one off Ebay for $40. The seller doesn't have anymore listed but you might want to contact him to check. The install was easy about 10 min DIY.

Thanks for this information

I have a loose piece of plastic or something in my trunk lid making a rattling noise, so I have to remove the trunk lining to find it, and this will make it easy.

Thank you
Paul

man...I got the same problem with my new car...the third brake light is chipped off...Any idea where I can get them ? I already looked on ebay (none). The site you guy posted above is out of stock.

dynomite05,

Thanks for you interior LED part number...I got installed it already looks pretty good.

Jon,

Did you actually replaced ur 3rd brake light with your aftermarket warranty or with MB warranty ? I do have the extended warranty...do you think they cover that ?

Thank you all,

Andy

There is no deductible, its not insurance lol

Either its covered or its not when it comes to the warranty. If your service adviser is nice, then even if somethings not covered he'll give you a break and sell the part at wholesale and discount the labor or not charge you for the part and just charge labor. It all depends on the adviser, but for a list of what is covered, MB will probably send you a manual on everything covered.
