2006 350 Checking Oil Level??
Hi,
I have an '06 CLK350. This model does not have the electronic engine oil level check as far as I can tell. There is a dipstick at the rear of the engine for engine oil and it has min and max marks on it.
Since I did my own oil change I know the filter drains when the car sits.
Therefore, if I check my oil hot after running with engine stopped, like at a gas station the dipstick will show full.
If I check it cold, like in my driveway the dipstick shows like more than an inch high over full.
Which condition should the oil be chacked in? I want to have the correct amount of oil in it? The engine currently has about 7-1/2 quarts in it.
Thanks

I drive the racism out of BadDebt. ;)
you check your oil when the car is warm. Thats when all the oil has circulated and you know the real amount of oil in the resevoir. The reason why it shows a bit more when your car is cold is because the oil scavenges back into the res.
