removing dust cap to fit wheels?

2003 CLK500
removing dust cap to fit wheels?

just curious if this is a bad idea. if i leave the dust caps on i cant put the wheels on, but if i remove the dust caps then i cant. any input?

The dust caps keep the bearing grease in and dirt and water out. Removing them would shorten the life span of the wheel bearings.. What size wheels are they? They are probably too big !
