Mtec HID kit installation problem Help!

Hi guys

I got Mtec HID kit from ebay... and I went to several auto repair

shops around here to install and most have never done this job before..

I know it's not plug & play. It requires wirings and has a big ballast..

Where I can get this job done? Obviously I don't want to do it myself..

Most asked me around 100 bucks for the labor charge.. I thought this job

would be very easy. But it seems not...

Where's the best place to get it done? Where can I find electronic

specialists? Anyone installed with mtec kit?

Please help!

it should be plug and play.

Mtec kit are plug and play bro, put the bulbs in where your old ones were, the ballast with the kit plugs to your factory harness, the two connect out the ballast connect to the HID bulb. thats it.... you might need a resistor harness so that it throws no error code.

a number of established vendors steer clear of thse kit installations because
it's bad for their business. they are not DOT compliant, ergo, less than legal.
not worth the hassle. offshore, aftermarket, unproven parts. if they install
and the kit doesn't work well, the car owner tries to get them to troubleshoot,
or even put the blame on them

Thanks everyone. Major problem is that the kit plugs don't match with factory harness.... I need to cut the harness and connect together..
I'll go to pep boys tomorrow to see what happens.. They told me they can do it.

It should be plug-n-play. I think you bought a kit that belong to another models.

It don't matter what the product or the ebay seller says. You bought the wrong kit. Should've read the forum prior to purchase.

Hey guys, I just went to Pep boys to install it.

The kit is fine. The other guy from repair shop said I got the wrong kit but

Pep guys pluged in and it worked on the driver side. Least that's good.

However, New problem has occured. Light didn't work on the passenger

side. Not even flickering. They checked the strength and switched the

ballast and bulb everything but still nothing, so they believed ballast was

something wrong because it didn't pick up the enough power from

the headlight outlet, I asked for the resistor but they don't carry it. Well, I

believe this mtec doesn't need a resistor to set up. Anyway, they gave up

and tried to put the stock one and it also didn't work!! I was so

surprised and frustrated. So they thought the socket from the headlight

outlet is the main cause. I have no idea at all. What could it be?? I'm

thinking to take this car to dealer soon. Do they install aftermarket HID?

please help me out

guys.

Any AMG Thats Around..
Usually there isin't enough voltage to power up both ballasts at the same time... They suck alot of juice on the first inital startup... Thats why alot of guys have to turn them off and on a few times to have them both come on... Then alot of people have to wire in relays to get the power directly from the battery....

I have used the DDM 35W (low power) Kit in my W202 C and have not had any problems... But in general i do not like doing HID installs, usually its more of a pain then its worth....

I see. My question is how come the stock bulb is not working? This is really painful guys... that power outlet on the passenger side has enough power and still doesn't work at all. Should I plug it and turn on & off repeatedly?

So you have the Stock bulb in place... All the HID stuff is removed.... And the regular bullb still does not work?

I have made an appointment with dealer. I hope it's not big issue. I'm sure they can fix it. HOWEVER, WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THESE MTEC KIT????
I know they don't install aftermarket HID for me. What would you do with it? After fixing the stock light, should I try to reinstall mtec again? What if it's not working again?
Tell me what to do.....
