Interesting material under rear W/W's
While washing my 209 I noticed an indoor outdoor type carpeting material lining the rear wheel wells of the car, fronts were the normal black plastic, what's up with that???

509 miles on my new CLK500 and it's ready for its first wash.
Took a look at the rear wheel wells.....this unusual WW lining has attracted the usual road dirt along with what appears to be assorted animal hair...feathers...a small nail...and assorted plant material.
Any suggestions from the '****-retentives' on cleaning the rear wheel wells?

Wow I'm amazed you dug up this old thread, I thought it was long gone. Best thing to clean is a strong spray of water from a good hose and nozzle. You can also wait until the wheel wells are dry and some of the dirt will come right out with a soft brush. I could never understand why this stuff is only on the rears because if its so good it should be on the fronts too right???

CLK 200 KOMPRESSOR Elegance
I think its only on the rears because they actually intrude into cabin space. The fronts are quite a bit forward and there would be insulation material on the firewall and under the carpets to keep noise out from this area !
