Spare tire well opening
You could have 2 differant types of spare tires. A space saver , the well opening Front to rear is 22'' and that tire is over $600.00 Retail at the dealer.
If the spare tire well opening is over 25'' then you need a full spare tire. size T-125/80 R17. With either one you need the special shorter lug bolts. I have a new Full spare , never used or installed With the bolts $150.00 plus shipping , Hope this helps Cheers _PTEngineering

What a weird thread...
The spare wheel should obviously be the same as those on the road wheels. Unless like mine, the front & rear tires are different sizes...

Not really that weird. most front and rears are different and a lot of the cars seem to have mini spares. My porsche has an inflatable.

Spare tire & Wheel size
Again Not a weird thread. Many used cars are sold with out the spare tire & jacking equipment . Not many purchasers look in the trunk or spare tire well. Alot of the time there isn't even a owner book , to even tell you what and how to find stuff. This is a good infomation thread and helpful for those who do not have the info about the car. CLK 320 Mini-Spare Tire
Ive got a 2004 CLK 320 with the original Mini-Spare Continental tire. My tire diameter is 16" as is the spare. I've only found this size made by Continental but haven't searched that extensively. Summit Racing carries this tire in stock, but I'm sure a good tire dealer can order them as well. NOTE: This Mini-Spare came with shortened mounting bolts which MUST be used when mounting.
The tire is a tubeless Continental 125/90R16. I had to use the spare only twice. It held air until the second use when the metal valve stem core assy (including the Schrader valve) disbonded itself from the rubber outer stem . . Boom, instant flat in the middle of a construction zone (I couldn't stop) . . and so I drove on it for about half mile. None of the major tire shops and independent shops would touch it . . . nor could Anyone find a new Valve Stem.
The Mini-Spare valve stem is a undersized morphodite size aka; TR438 http://www.accuravalves.com/tr438.php After three days of searching locally & on the net, Pelicanparts.com & PartsGeek.com came through.

Hope these links are still useful. I did find a Harley Davidson valve stem which worked for the interim.
