Sulphur smell from exhaust

Getting an intermittent sulphur smell coming out of the exhaust pipe on my 500, it' definetly coming from the burned exhaust gas. Anyone have a similar experience?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Jules. My 01 430 never did it but this one does even after normal driving, not always but most of the time when car has been driven for a while. Was your 2002 a CLK, how many miles on it?

I spoke to a MB tech in AZ and he told me they have had this problem with some S class cars and had to do one of the following:

1) Replace the cat

2) Replace the 02 sensor

3) New ECU (running too rich)

4) Bad gas with a high sulphur content made the problem worse

I"ve also been doing some checking on the net and have read that sometimes the problem goes away with time 2-3 thousand miles.

Yes I noticed it as well. So far it has only happened only twice. When I started driving. It was gone after I drove a few blocks.

RJC Thanks for that link it was very informative.
