2003 CLK 500
transmission not working..... HELP!
heres the rundown.
car: 2003 clk500
issue: glycol contamination
car ran perfectly but i had issue with glycol on the car. purchased a new behr radiator and swap it out. the cars cooling issue is perfect.
drained the transmission and dropped the pan. replaced tranny filter, and replaced fluid with mb 722.6 specific fluid. added 5 quarts.
car cranks fine and sounds really good, but now the transmission doesnt work. i put it into gear, but the car doesnt move. its like its in neutral or something. plus, i cant change gears manually (drive + left or right) as it doenst show on the dash indicator. another thing is the auto-matic hold no longer works.
anyone have any ideas?

when i got my tranny service the MB tech told me the process and it was long and i didn't have the equipment that they had, so i would probably take it to an independent or to the dealer and have them reservice it or look at it. one thing he told me was they have to hook it up to a machine and pump fluid thru it and Ect.....

My bet is the torque converter. In the the MB TSB they usually replace that before the transmission. About how much was it to replace the radiator and do the fluid swap with labor?

I had that exact same problem on my 209 55
Solution:
New Torque Converter , New Radiator, New Transmission and every link in between was replaced before hand trying to save a buck a two.
Cost to me 0. Cost to Mercedes. $11,000 +

I think you're right.
I will be having my tranny fluid changed soon (I like to change fluids often) and spoke to my guy at MB.
He lives close to me and I asked if it was something he could do on my driveway.
He said NO.
He says that the process is alot more delicate that an oil change.
From what I remember, he said that the car has to be put in the air, at the correct angle, and the fluid is changed in stages.
Maybe the car could be sorted by asking MB to do another tranny fluid change.
I'm hoping there hasn't been much damage.

When you have clycol in the tranny it starts to slip. That causes a faultcode in the ETC. You have to reset it with MB Star. Otherwise the car doesn't move.
But it might be that your tranny has already gone...
And remember to change the oil atleast twice becouse half of the oil remains in the turbine!
