new battery... now esp and bas on?
so i put in a new battery and now i get the bas and esp malfunction. i tried resyncing the esp by turning the wheel left to right and so forth like the manual discribed. no luck! any other solutions?
also, the only way for me to get the car out of park is to hit the secret button to manually unlock the shifter. what gives?

Sometimes when your ESP/BAS/ABS lights come on its your brake light switch. I had the same problem and changed the switch then the problem went right away. It costs about $30 at the dealership and isnt hard to change at all. Good luck and let me know what happens

The brake switch is well know problem on the w208 Clk 430 but on the w209 Clk 500, i'm not sure if it even have a brake switch on the w209 model. If it does have one, then i'm sure it the brake switch is the problem.

after installing tha battery turn the key to accessory for a few min. this usually gives the computer time to. "bootup" and calibrate
i just changed the battery on my mothers S500 this morning and had the same problem. but it went away after i drove the car for about 5 min.
called a friend who's a tech and he said to try the key thing before starting the car next time.

Hi Jale,
i know its been long time since you posted your problem, but i have the same problem. I have changed the battery and the next morning i started to get ESP malfunction without the BAS thing.
Did you solve your problem then??

Chawki, did you recalibrate the steering angle sensor (start the engine and turn the steering wheel fully lock-to-lock twice)? If that doesn't work, you might want to reset the related fuses (55, 56, 57, 59 and 60) and try again.
