![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
While listening to AM talk/new/sports and the volume is turned up it sounds like my speakers are slightly blown, but when in FM and even turned up all the way the speakers sound fine. Thoughts?

Without going into too much detail, an AM signal by nature is more susceptible to noise and interferance than a comparable FM signal.
Noise and interference cause distortion, and distortion is what causes your speakers to eventually blow.
Therefore the AM station will have more distortion at a comparable volume with an FM station, and that is why it sounds like your speakers are slightly blown.

I never really noticed the AM problem on my 01 clk 430 but the FM reception was quite poor on that car

Basically, a lot of things can affect your radio reception, so its hard to pinpoint the exact cause of the difference between the cars.
