Sirius in Cabriolet

By all indications I have a SDARS receiver in my 2007 clk cabriolet. The indications being a soft sat key on my non-command HK receiver, the ESN button gives me an id number, there is a sat antenna installed inside the trunk, and SDARS in and out optic cables in drivers side rear panel in trunk.

However, the unit will not acquire a satellite. I want to check all the connections to the SDARs unit. I don't know where to look for it. One item on the web indicated that in A209 mercedes it is behind the rear seat. Can anyone point me to the excact location so I don't take out more panels than I need to? I don't want to tear anything up looking.

I only go to dealers service departments as a last resort.

Thanks for any advice/help.

You did subscribe to Sirius, right???? Make sure you have the car out in the open. The first time I went to use mine (2006 Cab) after activation, it took a good 3 - 4 minutes to find a signal. Since then all has been well, but the trunk lid location for the antenna does result in more drop-outs than the roof location might.

Yes, I did subscribe and had an activation signal sent. The display in speedometer area says NO SAT and the display on the receiver in the dash says acquiring. I am told that even without an activation I should receive 184. Do you know where your SDARS receiver is located?

Move the antenna out from the inside of the trunk. Move it to the outside. The trunk lid is blocking the signal.

Thanks for the reply.

The trunk lid on the cab is not metal. The factory mount for the SAT antenna is in the trunk. I don't think I should move it, unless you have service bulletins or experience that says otherwise.

I still am looking to locate the SDARS in the vehicle.

John,

I have the same issue in my 07 CLK550. My SDAR is located on the passenger side in the trunk area. The best way to get to it is remove the removable passenger side fabric taillight cover. The cover that lets you access the taillights for bulb changes.

Please tell me that you have resolved your issue. And how?!?!

Thanks,
Kyle.
