Base Rattling

I have an 05 w209 with the HK sound system. The base behind the rear driver side passanger gives off a rattle (like a cheap sound system) even at when at low sound. I was wondering if something is loose or i need to replace it completely. I took the cover off and applied pressure to the center of the cone and the rattling stopped, but when i removed my finger the rattling resumed. Thanks in advance guys.

Hmm.

Did you buy the car new?

It may have been subjected to some "work outs" by the previous owner.

Initially, it would sound as if the housing of the speaker may be rattling.

But if you're sure it isn't then the sound you describe does sound like a blown speaker.

I bought it used but with less the 30k miles on it. I dont think its the cover because i remove the cover and the rattle is still there. It only goes away when i apply pressure with my finger to the speaker itself without the cover and i hinder its travel path. Do you know how much it would cost to replace it?

lol or you can take it out completely. my bass has a rattle to it and its not even active. when i hold it down, the rattle goes away. but then again i have a 12 sitting behind it. lol so it is probably shaking something in there.
