Many, many times I looked back and said 'wished I had' or 'wished I hadn't' but if I had or had not, things may be different now, and I like the way things have turned out.
My advice (f*ck sakes this thread has made me feel aged tonight) to everyone - first be content with who you are, then, go for it! You only live once, enjoy the ride! Maybe the last 4 years over here have given me a much better appreciation for life and freedom, who knows, all I know is that I'm lucky to have what I do and make sure I remind myself of that often. AND, most importantly - 30's are GREAT! Sure you 'shouldn't' chase 18 year old girls anymore but other than that, I really felt like I could get on living. I'm not worried about the big 4 -0 either, bring it on!

I tell you what Wes, I'm 36 and if it so happens that I die tomorrow (which I decided I can't do for 2 reasons; 1. I'm going to buy an Aston Martin before I'm 40 and 2. I need to live long enough to see the Flames win another Stanley Cup... What are the chances I'll hit 105???) I will be one of a very few people who can honestly say "no regrets and lived life to the absolute fullest".

When you're content with yourself and have goals the world changes mate. My 20's were pretty average, university, drinking, hockey, drinking, cars, drinking, girls, not as much drinking (they took all my money)... A failed shot at married life, lot's of learning experiences running my own companies etc. Then by the time 30 hit I was ready to roll.
I had lot's of goals I wanted to reach before the grave at at 36 I've reached most already. Still 2 of 7 wonders of the world to see so I guess that gets added to the Aston/Flames reasons to keep living. And in my case, the second time was the charm getting hitched.

2012 CLS550 4MATIC, 2009 CLK550 Cabriolet, 2002 E320 4MATIC Wagon
I remember seeing this topic on m5board forums a few monthes ago.
Let me just say that any 550-labeled Benz is a true sleeper. All of the 550 models (save for the SUVs) are capable of 0-60s in the 4 sec range and 1/4m's in the low 13s (based on specs provided by C/D, M/T, and R/T professional, accurate testing). Let me also add that the CLK is the smallest car in the MB lineup to utilize the 5.5L M273 V8.
Now let's compare the CLK550 to the M3 coupe:
-both weigh the same (3700lbs)
-the Benz has shorter gearing ratios and spacing
-the Benz has a whopping 100ft-lb(!) torque advantage
-the Benz carries said 100ft-lb tq advantage from 2800rpm to 5000rpm (M3's max torque is only 295 lb-ft at 3900rpms)
- the Bimmer's only advantage is the lousy 20hp (which isnt even reached until 8300rpm).
So while i dont believe a CLK550 can hold off an e92 M3 at triple-digit speeds, there is not an ounce of doubt in my mind that it will surely beat one from a low rolling speed or from a dig to about 80mph. (after that point, the benz's tq advantage will have tapered off and the Bimmer's high revving hp advantage should pull it ahead of the Benz).

I think this run will be a great one. I can't see the 550 giving anything away easily to the E92 M3. I would sure like to join this run to see how my car would fair against both the CLK550 and the E92 M3.
You guys need to kill the noise and lets just set this up. Yo both have got great cars now my 12yr old AMG wants some of this action with both the CLK and the M3.

there is no delay on our (550) part.
as originally stated i have raced 4 different M3s and dont need to prove anything.
but if anybody in M3 would like to prove me wrong, step up to the plate.
until that happens, there is no point on discussing this....

I'll try and work on it.
After my experience and results against the heavier SL550 which perhps was not a fair race for him because he's much heavier than me,I'd love to see what your CLK550 has. I'm hoping that I can get the guys or that Advan will step up to the plate.

I know where there would be plenty of M3's to run. Perhaps I could also summon some of the guys I know from the M5 board to make this happen. A nice run in Mexico could definitely happeen. As I saidIi would certainly like to see how my car matches up against both cars(CLK550 & M3) especially the M3.
I'll try and work on it.

I will have a modded SRt8 there as well as a e39 m5. I am trying to get in touch with my buddy with the IS-F.
IF ALL OF YOU guys r serious (CLK and M3),I could make this happen. But not in Bklyn, NO WAY!

Spoke to one of my buddies on the M5 board and he mentioned that one of you guys went over their and mentioned running an M3. I was told that a run was supposed to happen at Floyd Bennett field but nothing ever came out of this.

so here on M5 power boards member claims he had a hard time against clk550 Cab with his E39 M5

So i dunno why people still dismiss clk550 vs E92 M3\
here is a Video E39 M5 vs E92 M3

Many months later this thread shows up on the list again;
Here are my current thoughts. On the track there's a straight away that I always go full throttle on. It's up hill and about half a mile. With the CLK550 that I had I could easily hit 130, but with the M3 6MT that I had now, It's a challenge to get past 124 before having to brake.
See Mercedes Is designed for the autoban so it's super fast in a straight line. As you know there normal non-AMG cars suck in turns and handling.. (an AMG still doesn't have the handling that a normal BMW [non-M] has.) & the BMW as you know will kill the Benz around a track.
With that said up a hill a car with more torque will always win, I proved it going up that hill with both cars. The CLK550 has almost 100 more torques than an M3..
So if you want to crush the benz make sure your driving downhill or on a flat incline.. For example the drag strip that you mentioned.
I hope you're racing a coupe and not a convertible.

Hey if My friend Sergio with the M3 or Avans with his M3 don't come thru, for sure the SRT8 and my C class are definitely interested in doing a run. I will contact you guys more on your website. Don't lose the faith. We'll make it happen even if it means just us because i'm curious to see how well my C would run up against a CLK550 and I'm sure it won't be easy.

Well I got the SRT8 lined up now to get in touch with my friend with the E39 M5. have yet to get in touch with Advans due to me being so busy.
