Tire and wheel size question

I have stock 17 rims. I know that front and rear tires are dif sizes. Are the wheels/rims the same size. Can I change rims from front to back if I put the correct size tires on.

Thanks

I'm a bonehead, but I know the rear wheels are wider. Why swap anyway?

I dont want to swap. I plan on having the tire shop switch over my snow tires to my summer tires. I just wanted to know if need to keep on eye on the rims so the shop doesnt mix the front and back up. If they are the same rim size, they I guess it doesnt matter.

fronts are 7.5 x 17
rears are 8.5x17

you can swap them, you won't rub but you'll have even more understeer than normal, and even less traction when accelerating.

i have the 8.5 x17 on all 4 corners of my car.

The rims (and tires) are different sizes, so they will pay attention. I have my snows (all same size) on winter wheels, so I don't worry, but OEM is 225/45 front and 245/40 rear, I believe.

Can a 225/45 fit on a 8.5 x 17, or 245/40 fit a 7.5 x 17?
