I washed the car and tested it on a few letters an realized I couldn't stay in the lines. Lol So I washed it off. I will try again this weekend but this time I will tape off the letters so it comes out official.

mmmm. I think i might wrap mine in cf too when i changed the air filters. i think ima keep a look out for a 500 set up tho. lemme know how you like the e55 compared to the stock 320s. your review might sway to get it or not.

These are the part #'s for the kevlar inlets. It doesn't say exactly what car they comes off of but it does say 3.5 liter 2006-2009.

Yours look like they are partial kevlar. I would check the diameter of your tubes and compare them to the kevlar to see if there is any difference. I think the kevlar material might be porous allowing more air to flow through the inlet. If that's the case then the ones posted above might be better than the ones you have.

Finally did this mod - definately feel a difference on the freeway. Gotta question though:
Has anyone else had problems with the left side kevlar tube? seems to be a little short and won't lock into the plastic intake funnel or cover the air box tube good enough. Seems to only be a tight fit on one end or the other.

Is the engine cover needed, or can one get by with just the two air cleaner boxes (1130900601 and 1130900501), the T inlet pipe and the kevlar air tubes? Just wondering if the cover is only cosmetic.

Great! maybe next month then. Just ordered speedtuning software and sprint booster - so trying to catch up with you guys....
With E55k intake, sprint booster and speedtuning, I assume I will have made some improvement.... mine is an 05 clk500.

AirBox Cover (1130100967) $142.60
Kevlar Inlet Lft (2730900182) $44.28 Regular Inlet Lft (1130942282) $11.21
Kevlar Inlet Rt (2730900082) $44.28 Regular Inlet Rt (1130942182) $11.21
Air Cleaner Lft (1130900501) $92.00
Air Cleaner Rt (1130900601) $92.00
Rear Intake Pipe Assembly (1130900129) $117.30 (This includes the 2 rear hoses, Air Dist, and gaskets)
I am resurrecting this old thread with some questions. This seemed like the best thread to bump of all the airbox ones.
I recently purchased the e55 airbox from a friend to put on my Clk500. Included in the purchase was the AirBox Cover, left and right aircleaners (with new filters), and heat wrapped inlets. I plan to heatwrap the bottom of the aircleaners as shown in some pictures above this thread.
What was not included in the purchase was the rear intake assembly. Is this assembly required for the new box (left right and ypipe)? Is Clk500 rear assembly retrofitable or do I need to order this part also?
My 2nd question is if anyone has opinion on kevlar inlets vs normal inlets that are heat wrapped. It looks as if the kevlar have a little larger opening too or is that just the outer surface?

Are you talking about the Y pipe (#10) that's missing? If so, you'll need to buy one because the OEM airbox/engine cover on the 500 is a one piece design and has nothing like that for you to reuse/retrofit.
I have the kevlar tubes, they have a better overall design for airflow and do not need to be heat wrapped.

Nope, none of the OEM airbox/engine cover parts are shared between the two other than the filters. If your missing 8/9/10 you'll have to buy them. The OEM piece snaps into place as a complete assembly, the 55K one is made up from a few different separate items.

That's what I figured, thanks for the clean answer as always Kev
My go forward plan from here is to order the rear assembly (#8/#9/#10) and the kevlar tubes. The rear intake assembly is labeled as "Rear Intake Pipe Assembly (1130900129) This includes the 2 rear hoses, Air Dist, and gaskets" Do you think #10 is part of this? I would assume so but then it only says 2 rear hoses which makes me think its only #8/#9. Hopefully im not
I think I am going to also paint the cover and boxes because the stock cover looks sweet... and this half cover looks bad ;o Maybe even the top of the engine that would be open. Living in Phoenix where 120F isn't unheard of has led me to try and help my car breathe better asap.

Nice Picture Kev, that's what I am expecting mine to look like. Depends how much I want to paint though
I called my parts guy and Rear Intake Pipe Assembly (1130900129) $117.30 (This includes the 2 rear hoses, Air Dist, and gaskets) DOES include #10 Y pipe for anyone else curious.
I'll post some pics once I do the install.

For some reason can't edit the post above (probably too old). My problem was that I wasn't swapping the left and right side tubes of the Y pipe as advised.
Okay, time to finally install lol. I am a real procrastinator -_-
One more question, what did you guys use to seal off that little extra valve that comes off of the Y-pipe? Just curious I am sure there are many easy ways to see this extra opening. For reference if you look at the picture above it is the little tube coming off the right side of y-pipe. When I swap the left/right as I should it will be on the left.
