Underhood detailed
After seeing several underhood shots of fellow members CLK's, it became painfull obvious that mine was in horrid shape.
So, removed the air-box, bagged and taped off the MAF, soaked the whole thing down with a citrus based degreaser (the citrus oil clings to everything really well and does, IMO, a better job than spray on solvent based products) and let it sit. After 20 minutes I sprayed it all down again and could see it starting to clean up. After 10 minutes I foamed the engine bay up with my pressure washer and let it sit for about 5 minutes they blasted it off. I then took a microfiber cloth and a very concentrated mix of water and soap (50/50) and hand washed every single thing under the hood getting into every nook and cranny. After an hour of so of this I again blasted it off and did a decent wipe down with another microfiber towel then tossed the air-box back on.
Not embarrassed to open the hood anymore;

I haven't hand detailed an underhood like this for years, it was a very relaxing way to spend the afternoon and now it matches every other part of the car

Is there any other ways i can do to make the airflow better? Ive heard of people removing baffles/fins in the air intake to increase air flow..

There are a few guys out there with home-made air-intakes, buffyclk being one of them I believe. A set of BMC filters will increase airflow, my air-boxes didn't have baffles so there was nothing to cut out.

Nothing special at all, just time and attention to detail really.
