Sub woofer question

I have a 2007 CLK 550 with the Harmon Kardon system. The sub woofer has 2 "pipes" between the back seats. When I play music, only one pipe appears to be pumping out bass. Is this correct?

Ummm, can you please post a pic of these pipes for me, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I think that sound only comes out one side and that the other one is just for show.

Ahhhhhhh, PORTS my friend, ports... Your car only has a sub on the drivers side, not on the passenger. Fear not, symmetrical is gooooooooooood!

yeah my CLK has the same system and you can only feel the air come out the drivers side. I always thought the other sub was busted or something.

LOL... If you just look inside the port you'll notice one of them is sealed off. It doesn't even go through.

My subwoofer, I believe, is under the front dash.

That was only available for the cabriolet, your sub (if it's a coupe) is in the rear deck, drivers side.

yes I understand that but I've got that ugly cardboard thing between the two read seats so I'm trying to find one of these because I think it looks much neater even if nonfunctional. Problem is I can't seem to find one anywhere, so any help as to where I could get my hands on one of these would be much appreciated thanks!

I've got the same tray type thing in my coupe. It's surprisingly strong. In a pinch, i can put a small pillow on it and get a third rear seat for a small person.

Just get the VIN of any 209 cab and go to the dealer with the picture above, between the two you'll have the part number. You can then order it there or check parts dot com.

Hey guys,

Quick question about the subwoofer. Are our W209 already prewired for it and if I get one is it as simple as removing the rear tray between the seats and putting this one in? Thanks

I don't believe the wiring is there unless you car came with the factory Bose or HK system.

I have factory HK system. I'm just gonna remove the rear tray/seat to see what's underneath. It's 50/50 right?

So you have the HK system but no subwoofer? Oh, wait - I see, you have the coupe, so your sub is in the rear hat shelf and you want to replace it with the rear seat version from a cabriolet? I seriously doubt there would be any wiring there since the harness for coupe vs. cabriolet would be totally different.
