OMG! White Smoke out of the Exhaust!

I have an '07 550 with ~9000 miles. In the five months I've owned it I've used only premium fuel for the ~3000 miles I've put on it.

I hadn't really driven it in a few days, but pulled it out of the garage this evening so I could get the lawn tractor out. When I started it up to pull it back in, I noticed a pretty significant cloud of white smoke blow past my window from the exhaust pipe (it was a little breezy out or I may have never noticed it).

Any thoughts on the possible cause? I've always believed that white smoke is oil; please tell me I'm wrong!

Thanks in advance,
vin

P.S. Stupidly, I never asked the dealership about the service records -- hell, it only had 6500 miles on it!

No.....white smoke is water. Oil/fuel is black smoke. It pretty mornal for a new car to smoked a little white cloud if you haven't start the engine for a long time.

I agree.

When my car was delivered to me, I got smoke out of the tailpipes a couple of times.
Only had 5600 miles on it when I got it last may.

The car had been at the Dealers that I got it from for a few months, sitting around waiting for me. heehee

It's been fine since.

It's also worth noting that alittle oil burning upon start-up from time to time is also normal.
When I saw smoke, I asked my guy at MB about it.
he said that this is normal and that sometimes alittle oil can trickle into the inlets which is then burnt off upon start-up.

I've not seen any smoke since last May/ June.
